I cannot claim to be a gamer. I am friends with gamers, but until recently haven’t gamed all that much myself, unless Pokemon when I was 12 counts (OK, not gonna lie, I played more than a few hours of Pokemon earlier this year when I found the GBA emulator for the iPhone). Anyways, my opinion on video games means very very little, mostly cause I don’t have all that much to compare my experience to. I’m working on that, but as I have all of no money and a MacBook Pro running Windows that overheats with the simplest of tasks. I can neither afford or run new games so I am mostly suck playing my brothers hand me downs.
With that in mind, I started playing Brutal Legend Saturday night. I was at my parents house and my brother had just bought a PS3 and the game. I only got about 2 or 3 hours in before deciding I would need at least 3 hours of sleep before waking up at 6:30. The game was hilarious. I don’t think any other game has made me want to watch the cut scenes quite as much. The voice acting was great, proving once and for all that you can’t go wrong with Jack Black. Game play was fun and cleverly integrated with the storyline. I have to say, I enjoy having an army of minions to do my bidding, and as I understand it the army only gets bigger. I was completely terrible at driving the car, I am pretty sure that was due totally to my lack of hand eye coordination and and the fact that I cant remember the last game I played with a PlayStation controller.
I can assure you that the next time I am at home I will be fighting my brother for control of the PS3, and hopefully I will be able to actually play through this game, albeit in short spurts, probably over the course of the next 6 months.
